An 11-year-old bear was put down in Hahns Peak earlier this month. Colorado Parks and Wildlife confirms it had been breaking into homes and cars in North Routt County. And it had been tagged before. Kris Middledorf is the area wildlife manager.
Keep your ground level windows and doors closed and shut and lock all doors to your garage and lock your car doors. Remove all bird feeders. Keep your trash cans stored inside. Also, scare a bear away your yard. Kyle Bond with Parks and Wildlife says to use a paintball gun if you have to. They also hate the smell of ammonia, if you have a bear that keeps coming back to your home. If it is climbing up onto your balcony, use carpet tack strips.
