The COVID vaccination bus will be back in the Walmart parking lot Thursday and then at Centennial Mall this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The vaccination is free. You don’t need an ID or health insurance. Just stop on by.
Governor Polis has announced some recent appointments. From Northwest Colorado, Audrey Danner of Craig will serve on the Broadband Deployment Board. Christy Belton of Steamboat is on the Colorado Forest Health Council.
The eastbound lanes of I-70 in Glenwood Canyon are expected to be closed tonight for paving work to be done and reconstruction of the retaining wall. Traffic will be re-routed through Northwest Colorado from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Local, state, and federal agencies were involved in an Emergency Disaster Drill exercise in Steamboat Wednesday. The emergency was a massive winter storm with six feet of snow that shut down roads and all communication. Mo Demorat is the director of the Routt County Office of Emergency Management. He says it is his job to make sure the county is prepared with all corresponding agencies to respond to all types of emergencies.
Demorat and the Routt County Office of Emergency Management have been working on the exercise since March. About 50 people were involved, both in person and online. Moffat County was invited to join in the exercise but was unable to gather enough people to participate.
Colorado Northwestern Community College is hosting a Job Walk on Saturday. It’s a way to connect businesses with future employees, or those who need a job. It’s from 1-4 p.m. this Saturday afternoon on Yampa Avenue. Downtown businesses will be participating and other businesses are welcome to set up a tent in Alice Pleasant Park.
The Routt County Humane Society has received a $4,000 grant from the ASPCA to support vaccination and microchipping for animals in Northwest Colorado. It’s free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday at Cook Subaru in Steamboat. Pets from Moffat and Routt counties are invited. The grant will help RCHS fund essential veterinary care, to include vaccinations, heartworm testing, microchipping, as well as FIV/FELV testing for cats.
Hayden Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. this evening. One agenda item includes the recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Hayden.

The Harvest Festival in Hayden is this Saturday, Oct. 9. There is a pumpkin patch, straw maze, picture booth, face painting and gourd painting and lots of fall fun. It’s from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at 513 S. Poplar Street and it’s free.
