Three community water projects in Northwest Colorado have been awarded grant money from the Colorado River District.
The Yampa River Forest Restoration Project has been awarded $150,000 in grant money. It’s to provide mid and upper canopy tree cover to parts of the Upper Yampa River to help reduce the water temperature in the summer. The grant funding given to Routt County was one of six grants awarded across the state.
Another was a water storage project within the White River Basin, conducted by the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District. It’s the Wolf Creek Reservoir project for Rio Blanco and Moffat Counties. The grant awarded is for $330,000.
Another grant for Moffat County is for $30,350. It’s for a Lower Yampa Augmentation Study to anticipate the needs of the Lower Yampa Basin and water from Elkhead Reservoir.
