Early this morning, strong winds knocked over a tree onto the power lines in the Dream Island neighborhood. Todd Hoffman heard the crash.
The city says Steamboat Springs Fire and Police officers evacuated about 15 trailers and shut power off to probably 70 to 100 residences. Those who have been evacuated are being sent to the Steamboat Springs Community Center for shelter.
Yampa Valley Electric Association is on site and working to resolve the downed powerline. The tree is laying across the lines.
Integrated Community is also on site to provide translation services and lend support.
