Colorado Parks and Wildlife have lifted several voluntary and mandatory fishing closures, due to cooler temperatures and increased flows in sections of the Yampa River and Colorado River.
Effective immediately, the following volunteer fishing closures have been lifted.
- Partial day voluntary fishing closure on the Colorado River from Kremmling downstream to State Bridge.
- Full-day voluntary fishing closure on the Yampa River from Chuck Lewis State Wildlife Area to the western edge of Steamboat Springs city limits.
In addition, the full-day mandatory closure on the Yampa River between the dam at Stagecoach State Park downstream to the lowermost park boundary has been lifted.
Work on Burgess Creek is complete, and water is once again flowing at the base of the mountain. Burgess Creek and the beach area are open for play.
The Steamboat Springs School District is hiring and doing some some on-the-spot interviews for jobs within the district. Jobs include custodians, office staff, school bus drivers, and special education paraprofessionals. Those interviews are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Monday and Tuesday at district offices on 7th Street in Steamboat Springs. Or you can call and they’ll do a phone interview. A special performance of Piknik Theatre is tonight and tomorrow. It’s at the Hayden Granary at 6 p.m. The shows are 12th Night, and A Year with Frog and Toad. Performances resume nightly at Yampa River Botanic Park on Sunday through next Thursday.
The Moonhill Schoolhouse in North Routt County is having a dance. It’s at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, July 30. It’s free but donations are encouraged.
Also Saturday night, it’s Coca-Cola’s Movies on the Mountain at Torian Plum Plaza near the base of the ski area. The movie is Might Ducks. It starts at dusk which is around 8:35 p.m. Bring some chairs to sit out on the grass and watch the movie Friday night. Steamboat Radio’s Brian Harvey will be there giving away prizes.
Coming up Monday morning, Steamboat Bridge is hosting a Celebrity Bridge Speaker. His name is Robert Todd. He teaches bridge and presents to large groups across the country. He’ll be in Steamboat to talk at the Community Center. All bridge players are welcome. It’s $20, and it starts at 9 a.m. Monday. Then there’s lunch at noon followed by an afternoon of bridge.
