The plans for the new Brown Ranch neighborhood are being presented this Thursday. The presentation is from the Yampa Valley Housing Authority which has been gathering input from the community. There are actually two community meetings. One is at 2 p.m. and the other is at 6 p.m. on Thursday and they are at Strings Music Pavilion. Daycare will be provided.
The City of Steamboat has released the preliminary tax report for August. Sales taxes are 9.82% higher than August of 2021, which works out to $268,490 dollars. Construction and home improvement had the biggest increase at 42.70%.
In Craig, the Moffat County Board of County Commissioners will participate in a workshop Wednesday, with the 14tg Judicial District Community Corrections Board.
The softball game with the Hayden vs. Craig Power Plant Employees has been rescheduled for this Saturday. It’s a fundraiser for the Routt County and Moffat County United Way offices. Stop by Woodbury Park in Craig at 3 p.m. this coming Saturday.
Registration is open for the Festival of Trees in Craig. The theme this year is Christmas through the Decades. Groups are encouraged to come up with some holiday cheer and participate. It’s Homecoming Week at Soroco High School in Oak Creek. Today is Character Day with the volleyball team playing North Park. Wednesday is Hawaiian Day with the Egg Toss and Chili Cookoff at 5 p.m. followed by Power Volleyball. Thursday is Ram Pride Day with a Pep Rally, volleyball and football. Yes, the Soroco Homecoming Football game against Plateau Valley is Thursday night at 7 p.m. with the high school dance on Friday.
Also, be careful in the backcountry. It’s rifle season for pronghorn through Oct. 9 which is this Sunday, and for those with a moose tag through Oct., 14.
