Those with Verizon Wireless for their cell coverage were reporting problems last February. Steamboat Radio News reached out to Verizon and told them of problems listeners were having in Steamboat Springs and Northwest Colorado. We shared comments that frustrated listeners made on social media about Verizon service.
VERIZON EXPERIENCES SERVICE ISSUES IN NW COLORADO SINCE FEB. 1
We spoke with the Verizon Systems Performance Manager for Colorado and Wyoming this weekend and he said a cell site at the base of the ski area was experiencing technical issues which was overloading a tower site at the top of the area. The issue was repaired at the base and Verizon hauled equipment up the lift to install even more capacity.
We spoke this weekend about how coverage has not improved for some.
He said Steamboat Springs is a tough area to cover because of the mountains, and they have challenges in Craig, too.
They are working to add additional capacity to the network in the region in the short-term, while working on getting more towers built to improve coverage but that process can take up to two years to find a suitable site, receive the necessary approvals and ultimately build the site.
In the meantime if you are having problems with Verizon service, you can call *611 to report a problem to an agent.
