The Moffat Community Kitchen is hosting a fundraiser on May 15. It’s to celebrate the community kitchen at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 678 School Street, that has been serving over 630 meals a week to neighbors in need, for close to 20 years.
The Moffat Community Kitchen began back on Thanksgiving Day in 2008 and has grown into a long-standing tradition, powered by volunteers in the Moffat County community. Lunch is served on Tuesday and dinner on Thursday each week. Volunteers also deliver meals to those who can’t get out.
The event will ensure that the kitchen continues after Robin Schiffbauer retires. The kitchen is hoping to get a dedicated space of its own.
From the organizers, “A permanent home will allow the Kitchen to grow, serve more people, and stand as a lasting institution in Craig for generations to come.”
United Way of the Yampa Valley is helping coordinate the event.
