The City of Steamboat Springs is looking for applicants to serve on the Board of the Downtown Business Improvement District. The group has been inactive in the past few years so the board is being reactivated. The city is looking for volunteers who are property owners, business owners, or electors in the district. Seven seats are open. Apply online through the city before Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Downtown Business Improvement District Looks To Fill Board
Applications Due August 19 and Interviews Take Place August 25
Steamboat Springs, Colorado-August 4, 2026-The City of Steamboat Springs is seeking qualified applicants to serve on the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) Board, marking an important step toward reactivating the district and guiding its future.
A Business Improvement District is a defined geographic area where commercial property owners collectively fund enhanced services and improvements beyond those provided by the local municipality. Steamboat Springs already has an established Downtown BID, which generally includes commercial properties along Lincoln Avenue, Oak Street, and Yampa Street between 12th Street and 3rd Street.
While the district remains legally formed, it has been inactive in recent years due to the absence of a governing board. Reactivating the board will allow the district to reestablish a locally controlled body focused on downtown priorities and coordinated investment.
The city is now seeking volunteers who are property owners, business owners, or electors within the district to help restore active governance and shape priorities for the downtown area. Only property owners within the district or their designated representative are eligible to apply.
There are potentially seven open seats on the board, with a minimum of five required. Once appointed, the board will meet monthly at a date and time determined by its members. Applications must be submitted via the online form by Wednesday, August 19. Interviews for applicants will take place on Tuesday, August 25.
BIDs may fund a wide range of services and improvements, such as streetscape beautification, enhanced cleaning and snow removal, parking management, marketing and events, public art, safety programs, and infrastructure upgrades. These services supplement — not replace — those provided by the city.
