New traffic laws go into effect today. They include:
- A breath test offered at every fatal and serious crash.
- Standardizing Colorado school zones.
- Don’t stop or stand in a marked bike lane, there are new tire tread rules, and use the word crash and not accident.
- Repeat speeders get more penalties and if you’re driving 100 mph or faster you get some extra points off your license.
- Coroners have to report toxicology results when it involves a crash where someone died.
- Plus there are new rules for those who avoid tolls, chains for commercial vehicles, motorcycle safety training and more.
