Rob Perlman is officially the President and Chief Operating Officer of Steamboat Resort. Perlman used to be president of the resort for nine years, and then he went to Alterra corporate. He has now returned to his job as President and COO, effective immediately.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife still won’t release how many bears have had to be euthanized this summer season. But Public Information Officer Rachael Gonzales says eight bears have been relocated in Routt County since Jan. 1.
CPW also says they are hiring state park officers and district wildlife managers. Apply before the end of the month.

Moffat County Public Health is offering routine vaccinations for children and some general adult vaccines. Hours are 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Moffat County Public Health offices at 1198 West Victory Way, Suite 110.
Yampa River Botanic Park and the Yampa Valley Crane Festival are hosting a Yampa Valley Bird Calling Contest. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, on The Green in the Botanic Park. The Town Board of Yampa meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday night.
A beautiful new quilt has been made for Kathy and Terry Stokes. It replaces a quilt made back in 2007. That quilt was lost when the Stokes’ house burned down on Whitetail Lane in May of last year.
“It was one of the things I mourned for sure, as far as the fire.”
That’s Kathy Stokes, talking about that first quilt which was created from the co-workers at PostNet, as a group effort.
That group of women has gotten back together and re-created that original quilt for Kathy’s new home. They’ve been working on it since last November.
Sandy Berlet helped with the first quilt.
“Because we all love Kathy and Terry so much and some of us worked at PostNet with them, and we made the first quilt. So now Phoenix Rising From the Ashes is brand new for their new home quilt.”
The Stokes have just moved into their newly rebuilt home.
“The quilt now means more even than the other one ever did because it’s such a group effort and we’ve become such great friends. It just shows one part of what this community has done to help us recover from the fire. And it’s amazing.”
One last note…
Sandy Berlet participated in a quilting class taught by a minister’s wife in Kerrville, Texas, where she lived for awhile. It was a class about “Quilting to the Life of Jesus.” Sandy also taught the lass at Postnet. Every block in the quilt has a Bible story tied to it.
