Routt County now has a total of 519 cases of COVID-19 since March, according to data released Sunday from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The good news is, instead of a double digit daily increase, that’s only three more cases reported to the state then the day before. Those numbers show a one-week total of 129 and a two-week total of 233 cases in Routt County. Brooke Maxwell is a nurse for Routt County Public Health.
Another person from Casey's Pond has died to bring the total number of deaths from COVID in Routt County right now to 10. And four more residents at Casey’s Pond have tested positive for COVID-19, as reported on the Casey’s Pond website Saturday. Nineteen residents are now being supported in isolation in the Doak Walker neighborhood of Casey’s Pond. An employee in that area also tested positive and is at home recuperating.
In Moffat County, their total of COVID cases has gone up rapidly. It’s at 246. The deaths of four people at the Sandrock Ridge facility in Craig was reported heading into the weekend.
You probably got a cell phone alert Sunday morning. Health officials sent a COVID-19 alert to cell phones in 20 counties, including Routt. It reminded residents to use caution since everyone in Routt County is at “Severe Risk” of contracting the virus.
Yampa Valley Electric Association is closed to the public in both Steamboat and Craig. Everything else is open; just the lobbies are closed. Payments can be mailed or made over the phone. YVEA says the changes are being made to keep members and employees safe.
