Steamboat Springs High School is closed today. The school has been shut down because of at least three high school students testing positive for COVID-19 which resulted in close to 150 in quarantine. Superintendent Brad Meeks says he can’t get enough substitute teachers.  

An emergency public health meeting was held on Friday. Routt County Director of Public Health says the super spreader events are from a slumber party and a private Halloween party.

Smith says they are also seeing outbreaks in Routt County businesses. Public Health is asking that employees work from home if they can right now.

The local Public Health dashboard says 270 positive cases with 58 cases in two weeks. The state, as of yesterday, says Routt County has 286 cases. Public Health Medical Officer Dr. Brian Harrington says he expects the state to move Routt County to a more stricter Level 3 this week.

Steamboat Ski Resort President and COO Rob Perlman says their goal is to open and stay open and not put their employees and the community in jeopardy.

Steamboat Police Chief Cory Christensen says the police department is working with the District Attorney’s office on a plan for enforcement, if necessary.

The official ribbon cutting was Friday for the new Pre-K through 12th grade school in Hayden. Here’s Hayden School District Superintendent Christy Sinner.

The 139,000 square foot school in Hayden was paid for by a $38.9 million BEST (Building Excellent Schools Today) grant and a $22.3 million dollar bond approved by voters three years ago.

In football… Moffat County had a big win in the 2A West League by beating the Delta Panthers. Hayden lost on Friday. The Tigers play Soroco in Oak Creek Friday night.
