Parts are in to fix the mechanical issue on the new gondola at Steamboat Resort. The parts are set to be assembled this afternoon. The gondola will be started, with testing, aligning, and a vibration analysis, but no word on the exact time it will reopen. It has been nine days since the new gondola shut down.

The Barrows chairlift at Howelsen Hill broke down Saturday. Some skiers and snowboarders were stranded for more than an hour. Eventually, the lift got going and those stuck on the chairs were able to make it to the top. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue was called to help with a rope rescue, but the lift got going just as the crews got there. Temperatures were very cold, but everyone was OK. The chairlift has been fixed and Howelsen Hill Ski Area manager Brad Setter says it should be good to go.

A new mural has gone up in one of the patient rooms at the lab, at UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center. It’s a room where blood is drawn. Local artist Chula Beauregard painted a mountain scene with some moose and bears and wildflowers next to a stream. The mural was made possible through a donation from Dr. Bill Cox and his wife, Kathy.
