Today is the Budget Retreat for Steamboat Springs City Council. Council members will review the 2021 budget and come up with alternative budget scenarios. 

Routt County residents can get rid of their Household Hazardous Waste this Saturday. Madison Muxworthy is the Waste Diversion Director for the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council.

The dropoff is from 8 a.m. to noon at the Meadows Parking Lot Saturday. Then another Community Recycle Day is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 31. That will be for electronics, mattresses, batteries and appliances with Freon.

The Soroco Rams have a home football game this Friday night in South Routt. They’re playing Sanford. Here’s Soroco Head Football Coach Johnny DeCosta.

Soroco plays 8-man football. Twenty-one players are on the roster. Kickoff for the Soroco-Sanford game is at 6 p.m. this Friday night in Oak Creek. Link to interview with Coach DeCosta on Facebook:

The Hayden Tigers have a six and a half hour drive down to Mancos to play at 7 p.m. Friday night.

Moffat County is a different story. The Bulldogs were supposed to travel to Manitou Springs this weekend to play. But the Manitou football team had to cancel because of COVID-related issues at the high school. Turns out the team Meeker was playing had to cancel, too. They’ll play each other. Moffat County Athletic Director Jeremy Cheuvront said it’s better to have a 52-minute drive down the road instead of 5 ½ hours.

Moffat County is playing Meeker at Starbucks Stadium in Meeker. Kickoff is at 7:30 Friday.

The town of Hayden is having a public forum for the seven candidates running for three seats on the Hayden Town Council. It’s an online event through Zoom that starts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.


The Routt County Humane Society is offering a vaccination clinic this Saturday. No appointment necessary. Just stop by the animal shelter sometime between noon and 2 p.m. Saturday.
