The bi-annual Recycling Drop-off day is this Saturday. Cameron Hawkins is with Yampa Valley Sustainability Council. 

The drop-off location is new this year. Electronics can be taken to Steamboat Springs High School while all other items are at the middle school.  Drop off for residents is from 10 to one, and for businesses, 1:30-3 p.m. Find out more at www.YVSC.org. Volunteers are also needed if you can help. You can sign up through their website.

Steamboat Springs City Council approved the first reading of banning single-use plastic bags. City staff estimates local grocers pass out 3.8 million of them each year. Those stores affected will be Walmart, City Market, Safeway, and Walgreens. Final approval is scheduled for May 21 and the ordinance would go into effect Oct. 1.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife has a new tagline and campaign. They want Coloradans to “Live Life Outside.” The campaign wants to highlight the connection between conservation and recreation in Colorado. The state has 41 state parks, more than 310 state wildlife areas, 39,000 miles of trails, and over 23 million acres of public lands. The campaign adds, “This land is your land, we’re all the caretakers.”

A one-day wildlife mitigation conference is this Saturday. It’s free, in the auditorium at CMC. Residents and ranchers, and property owners are invited, to learn how to fight fires and reduce the threat of a wildlife. More information is on the Routt County website at www.co.routt.co.us

The Steamboat Sailors tennis team is sending 11 Varsity players to the state championships. Here is Coach Kristyn Wykert.

The state tournament is Friday and Saturday, in Greeley.

The Steamboat Sailors Boys Lacrosse team won their playoff game last night, 14-6, over Jefferson Academy. The second round game of the CHSAA 4A State Championships should be Friday in Steamboat, against either Green Mountain or Battle Mountain. Those two teams play tonight.

The Steamboat Girls Lacrosse team lost in their playoff match last night to Mullen, 15-7.
