Moffat County will celebrate “Meat In” Day on March 20 and “All Meats March” this month. That’s in response to “MeatOut” Day, as declared by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, who wants to promote meatless diets as promoted by the Farm Animal Rights Movement. Moffat County Commissioners made “Meat In” Day and “All Meats March” an official resolution to support all past and current livestock producers in the local ranching industry. Here’s Moffat County Commissioner and sheep rancher Melody Villard.
Villard says the 2017 Ag Census says Moffat County had 89,000 head of cattle and sheep and Routt County had 39,045 at the end of 2017. The resolution says Colorado ranching families are part of a $3.4 billion dollar state industry, with a $40 billion economic impact. Ag Census Link
