Grooming is ending at the top of Thunderhead, as of today, for those wanting to skin up. Why Not Road has also been completely plowed as it opens soon for summer access. Steamboat Resort is asking the uphill community to be aware of spring runoff conditions and heavy equipment.
Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. is contributing close to $20,000 to Routt County Search and Rescue from the fees collected from uphill passes this past season.
“Routt County Search and Rescue (RCSAR) is extremely thankful for the generous support provided by Steamboat Resort through the donation of uphill pass proceeds.” said Jay Bowman, president of Routt County Search and Rescue. “Search and rescue teams across Colorado continue to see an increase in backcountry activity and as a result, the number of missions is also increasing. RCSAR has been in the process of replacing outdated vehicles and equipment to be able to safely manage our mission response. This donation from Steamboat Resort will be a tremendous help in our efforts to maintain an up to date and effective team.”
