The Steamboat Gravel (SBT GRVL) race is this weekend. Yampa Street will be closed from 9^th to 11^th on Saturday for the expo, with more closures in that area on Sunday for the race. There are four courses from 37 miles to 142 miles leaving downtown Steamboat on Lincoln Avenue between 6:30 and 7:45 a.m. Sunday. The SBT GRVL riders will head up Elk River Road before branching out on their specific ride.

SBT GRVL Returns To Steamboat Springs This Weekend

Yampa Street & Lincoln Avenue Experience Impacts With Expo & Finish

 

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-August 11, 2021-The acclaimed gravel cycling race, SBT GRVL, will pedal its way into Steamboat Springs on Sunday, August 15, and bring with it riders of all abilities and some street closures for the weekend.

 

Now in its third year, SBT GRVL is a world-class gravel race experience held on the gravel roads in and around Steamboat Springs and Routt County. Gravel riding is a relatively new sport where competitors ride on unpaved roads including dirt, gravel, and mixed-surface terrain. The event was founded by three Steamboat Springs’ locals.

 

The following impacts will occur on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15.

 

Saturday, August 14

Yampa Street will be closed from 9^th to 11^th Streets with 10^th Street closed from Yampa to the alley. Saturday closures run from 6am to midnight except for 12^th and Yampa along with 11^th and Yampa which will see overnight closures.

 

Sunday, August 15

The same Yampa Street closure is in effect on race day from 9^th to 11^th Streets as well as 12^th Street from Yampa to Lincoln Ave and 10^th & 11^th Streets from Yampa to the alley. These closures will run until around midnight. 

 

With all four courses returning to town from 13^th Street, the shoulder of eastbound Lincoln Avenue from 13^th Street to 12^th Street will be closed and used by racers. In addition, the SST stop at 13^th and Lincoln will be closed on Sunday and passengers should use the 11^th and Lincoln bus stop.

 

All four courses, which vary in length from 37 miles to 142 miles, leave downtown Steamboat Springs via Lincoln Avenue (US Highway 40) west to Elk River Road North (CO 129) before branching out on their individual routes. Each race distance will roll out of town in a mass start format beginning at 10^th and Yampa Street with start times at 6:30am (Black), 7:00am (Blue), 7:30am (Red) and 7:45am (Green).

 

All racers will return to town via 13^th Street to Lincoln Avenue (east), turning right on 12^th Street to the finish line on Yampa and 11^th Streets. First finishers are anticipated to complete the course at 9:30am (Green) and 1:00pm (Black). Awards and Block Party run until around 9pm.
