U.S. House Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District met with Routt County Commissioners Monday.
Boebert spoke about land and water, transportation and climate. She said she understood that affordable housing is an issue.
Commissioner Beth Melton spoke of the lack of child care, especially in Routt County.
Commissioner Tim Redmond from Hayden said that community will need support from the state when the coal mine and power plants close.
Commissioner Tim Corrigan asked Boebert to support the current Infrastructure bill because it would help the town of Oak Creek, since the town needs $14 million dollars to repair a 50+ year old dam to help the water system there. Boebert stated that she would not support the current infrastructure legislation, citing costs and her concern that it will be tied to the upcoming Reconciliation legislation. Boebert also referred to an infrastructure bill she has introduced.
Meanwhile, out on the lawn of the courthouse, the Routt County Republicans were showing support for the Congresswoman by waving signs and flags.
The Routt County Democrats also had signs that showed what they think the important issues are for the Congresswoman to address, since the commissioners agenda did not allow for public comment.
