The new Sleeping Giant School is up and running and ready for the halls to be full of students. Kindergarteners and 6th graders attended Monday.
The official ribbon-cutting for the new Pre-K through 8th grade school in west Steamboat was this afternoon. Past and present board members were there, with city officials, parents, students, and teachers, along with FCI Construction and HCM Architecture.
One person who spoke was lifelong Steamboat Springs resident Ben Barbier, who will be teaching 7th grade math and science at the new school.
Voters approved a bond to fund the new school in November of 2019.
