Alan Jackson’s oldest daughter Mattie Jackson Selecman lost her husband Ben Selecman in a tragic boating accident in 2018. Selecman, an Assistant District Attorney in Davidson County, Tennessee, was just 28 years old, and the couple had only been married 11 months. The tragedy is one of the reasons Alan Jackson took an extended period of time off between his album ‘Angels & Alcohol’ in 2015, and his latest release this May, ‘Where Have You Gone.’

Mattie Jackson Selecman is now set to release her new book about losing her husband called ‘Lemons On Friday: Trusting God Through My Greatest Heartbreak,’ due out on November 16th.  Alan and his wife Denise wrote the forward to the book, and as part of the project, Alan co-wrote a song with Mattie called “Racing in the Dark.” The song is currently only available for download when pre-ordering Lemons on Friday – head to the link here for details.
