Around 450 girls and their families and friends all ran a 5K through Strawberry Park Saturday morning for Girls on the Run of Western Colorado. The first girl across the finish line was Steamboat 5^th grader, Georgia Bishop.

Runners came to Steamboat Springs for the event from across Western Colorado, including Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Grand Junction, and Craig. Lyla Meade says a group of girls raced from school. Lyla is a 4^th grader at Sunset Elementary.

Lila ran the 5K with her dad, Cuyler. Girls on the Run is a nationwide organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, that integrates running.

Steamboat Radio and KRAI News Director Shannon Lukens announced the event.
