The second rifle season just ended. Calls from hunters kept Routt County Search and Rescue busy last week. They answered nine calls in seven days. Here’s Jay Bowman, who heads up Routt County Search and Rescue. He says most hunters have been doing the right thing by letting someone know where they’re going and when they’re supposed to be coming home.
Bowman says it helps to have good crews and good equipment. Routt County Search and Rescue has enough trucks, trailers, and ATVs where they can field two rescue teams at once, which they did have to do last Sunday (Oct. 31).
There are two more rifle hunting seasons coming up. The next one is Nov. 13-19, which is this Saturday, and then Nov. 24-28 which is over Thanksgiving.
