Santa Claus is soon back in Steamboat. The Santa house, which is actually his study, is being moved back on the lawn at the historic Routt County Courthouse at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, Nov. 23. Lisa Popovich with Main Street Steamboat says Santa and the Santa house hasn’t been on the courthouse lawn for six years.
Santa will help kick off the holiday season this Friday night, Nov. 26, with the Light up the Night celebration on the courthouse lawn. He’ll be up on a hook and ladder to signal the lighting of the Christmas trees at the courthouse at 6 p.m. There will also be hot chocolate and cookies from restaurants around town. He’ll then drop 150 ping pong balls on the crowd. Each one has a deal or discount to local businesses.
Then Santa will meet with those kids who want to say hi in his Santa House from 6:30 to 8 p.m. this Friday night, Nov. 26. Then Santa will be in his study, talking to kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday in December.
The Santa Study/House is sponsored by the charitable foundation from Colorado Group Realty.
