A fire out at the Peak Ready Mix concrete tower on Shield Drive near Curve Court sent thick black smoke up on the west end of town, near LiftUp. Steamboat Fire Rescue crews quickly got it out. Chief Chuck Cerasoli said it started on the conveyor belt.

Chief Cerasoli says Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue crews responded with a fire engine, a tower truck, two ambulances, and three chief vehicles. The West Routt Fire Protection ambulance covered any other calls in Steamboat. The fire was out in about an hour. There is heavy damage to the building. No one was hurt.
