Two people from Wyoming are still in the Routt County Jail today, with multiple charges including stealing a car.
Dispatch started getting calls last Thursday about a car headed into Steamboat from the west, that was driving erratically. Routt County Undersheriff Doug Scherar says it turns out the car had been driving in from Wyoming, through Maybell and Craig and on into Steamboat, where it was pulled over at Dream Island off of Hwy 40.
The Kia Optima was reported stolen out of Lander, Wyoming. The two in jail are 28-year-old Elmo Tavo and 35-year-old Larissa Eschief. Tavo also had other charges in relation to giving someone else’s name when the car was stopped and marijuana possession. Eschief has harassment and striking/kicking charges because they were allegedly fighting each other.
Both have a status conference in Routt County Court before Judge Garrecht at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2.
Bond has been set:
- $1,000 cash surety bond for Eschief
- $1,500 cash surety or property bond for Tavo
