There are two more weekends left of skiing at Steamboat Resort before the mountain closes on April 10. It’s Spring Skiing which means warmer temperatures. It also means don’t leave your dog in the car while you head up to take turns on the mountain because it can be too hot in the car. Here’s Jennifer Good, the Animal Control Officer with Steamboat Springs Police Department.
“On our beautiful bluebird days here in Steamboat, the sun heats up your car. It’s too hot for pets. In about ten minutes, it can be about 20 degrees hotter inside the vehicle. So on those days that it is hitting the upper 60s already, it’s almost in the upper 80s (in your car) and that is not safe for your pet so leave them at home. Let’s be pet safe.”
Officer Good also says that whenever a dog is left in a car, there has to be clean water available.
