Dancing with the Stars packed the house Friday night with eight dancers raising money for Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA.
Maggie Taylor is the associate pastor at Heart of Steamboat United Methodist Church. She shocked the crowd when it was announced that she raised $31,407.50 for CASA, which is the most any dancing team has ever raised in the history of the event.
The total raised for CASA at the event Friday night was $128,401.50.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA serves the 14th Judicial District which is Routt, Moffat, and Grand counties.
Other winners on the very fun evening were Safeway pharmacist Kelli Johnson for the Judges’ Choice.
The People’s Choice winner and crowd favorite was Craig Keefe dancing with Penny Hamilton.
Steamboat Radio’s Vladan Chase also danced this year. Chase is now a firefighter/EMT with North Routt Fire. Tony Counts was the emcee of Dancing with the Stars this year.
