A former Steamboat resident works at the medical building in Tulsa where the shooting happened Wednesday. Four died, including the shooter.
Jaime Winter Thompson and her husband, Jay, are both medical residents. Jaime, who grew up in Steamboat, was not in the building at the time of the shooting but Jay was and he is OK.
“It is absolutely devastating to see this happen. So far we know a few people that didn’t make it out. It’s another one of those things that you never want to see happen and this one hit really close to home.”
Jaime graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 2010. Jay is a graduate of Fairview High School in Boulder. Jaime has a message for those in her hometown of Steamboat.
“I just want to let everyone know that we are OK, and hug your loved ones closely, and don’t take anything for granted.”
