A woman walked into City Market and Walmart in Craig Saturday morning, and passed along some counterfeit money. Police have pictures of the woman who they think did it. Craig Police Officer Izauro Gonzalez has more on what bills were passed and how you can tell they’re fake.
“So far we’ve seen $20 and $10 bills that were counterfeit. ‘How can people be aware of the fake bills?’ Definitely, texture, by looking at them, and we have been seeing that some of the numbering on the bills has been repeated which is something that is not possible.”
Officer Gonzalez says the white female using the counterfeit money could be from the area, or just passing through, and heading on to other parts of Northwest Colorado, so be aware.
