In Gee Chun captured her third career major title to with the Women’s PGA Tournament at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

Chun won her first major since 2016, while Lexi Thompson – who was seeking her first major since 2014 — settled for a tie for second. Thompson, 27, won the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship at 19 years old. She has earned 16 major top-10 finishes and 11 top fives in her last 39 major appearances.

Chun became just the third Korean woman with three or more major championships. Chun’s previous major wins came at the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2016 Evian Championship. Chun said emotionally after her victory: “It just means a lot because I didn’t have any wins the last three and a half years. I really appreciate my sponsors … they always believed in me, I really appreciate it. My family and my coach … and my caddie … they never gave up on me no matter how I did. Thank you.”
