The town of Hayden will receive $5.2 million dollars from a grant award. The money will go to build a business park to bring new business to town, and help with municipal infrastructure.
But there’s more.
The City of Craig has received a $3.3 million grant award for the Yampa River Corridor Project. It includes improvements at Loudy-Simpson Park with a new concrete boat ramp, access road, and parking area, plus improvements at the diversion dam site including a whitewater park, access road, parking area and amenities. The project will also sustain the City of Craig’s municipal water supply, create a multiuse park, and create enhanced aquatic/riparian habitat and fish habitat.
The award announcement came Tuesday from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The 2022 Philanthropists of the Year have been recognized by Yampa Valley Community Foundation. The Legacy Award goes to Tony and Emily Seaver. The Individual Philanthropist of the Year goes to Paul and Bridget Ferguson. Lyon’s Drug is the Business of the Year. The Youth of the Year is Tinsley Wilkinson of Steamboat and Irene Hoff of South Routt.
The Moffat County Fair is this week in Craig. Tuesday was the Dog Show. Autumn Baker showed her French Poodle, Molly.
Autumn will be a 4th grader at Sunset Elementary in Craig.
Tonight is the Sheep Show at the Fair with Gymkhana. Thursday is the Goat Show in the morning and Beef Show at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Friday morning is the Swine Show and Rabbit Show.

Thursday night is the PRCA and WPRA Rodeo and Catch-a-Pig Contest with a concert by Wordan Jilson. There’s fun all day Saturday with the Parade of Champions and Livestock Sale Saturday night. It’s all at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.
The Routt County Fair is next week, at the fairgrounds in Hayden.
There is a Business & Brews networking event tonight. It’s at 6 p.m. at Yampa Valley Brewing Company in Craig.

The Yampa Valley Housing Authority meets at noon on Thursday. An update on Brown Ranch is on the agenda. The meeting is in the Routt County Commissioners room on the 3rd floor of the Historic Routt County Courthouse.
