The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has reported another COVID death of a Routt County resident. The number went up to 31 deaths in Routt County on Monday, according to the CDPHE.

 

District Court Judge Michael O’Hara has ruled in favor of the City of Steamboat Springs. It has to do with the filing of a referendum petition that had been rejected by the City Clerk last month. It means the vote for the 9% short-term rental tax, as already approved by Steamboat Springs City Council, will stay on the ballot in November. Order of the Court

 

Council meetings are tonight.

  • Agenda items for Steamboat Springs City Council include staff reports and a Community Recycling report. Another resolution includes accepting the terms of a State of Colorado Aviation System grant for the Flight Simulator project. The meeting is at 5 p.m.  Agenda
  • In Craig, council will discuss some Intergovernmental agreements between Moffat County for the 2022 election, also an agreement with Craig Housing Authority. Staff reports include Water/Wastewater and a Finance Report. That meeting in Craig is at 6:30 p.m.  Agenda

 

Tuesday is the first day of school for Steamboat Springs and Soroco kids. Watch for school buses and extra traffic.

  

Many state officials are in Steamboat Springs today for the Colorado Water Congress Conference. That includes Governor Polis and Senator Bennet.

Also, Colorado Treasurer Dave Young is here. His office sent a link on how to see if you are owed money, whether it is cash or stock, or something from a safety deposit box.  Click here for the link. You just put your last name in and your hometown and it shows if you are owed anything.

  • In Moffat County, there are 16,354 claims, including $1,434,468 in cash, 12 items from safe deposit boxes, and 131,521 shares available.
  • In Routt County, there are 38,220 claims available, including $4,706,787 in cash, 153 items from safety deposit boxes, and 1,031,561 stock shares available.

 

Tickets are now for sale for the Rubber Ducky Race for Hospice in Steamboat Springs. It’s Sept. 10. Proceeds benefit the Hospice program at Northwest Colorado Health.
