Four hundred water leaders in Colorado are in Steamboat Springs for the summer conference for Colorado Water Congress. Issues being discussed include drought, the Colorado River, water conservation and the health of the forests.
Governor Jared Polis was one of the speakers Tuesday, as was his opponent, Republican Gov. Candidate Heidi Ganahl. They both spoke about water and other issues in the state.
U.S. Senator Michael Bennet also spoke at the conference that water here in the west should be on the national agenda in Washington.
Senator Bennet’s opponent in the Senate is Republican Candidate Joe O’Dea, who also spoke at the conference.
The Colorado Water Congress conference continues through Thursday at the Steamboat Grand. Senator John Hickenlooper is speaking as is Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser.
The Celebration of Life for Sue White is at 6 p.m. Thursday night at Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill. Sue White graduated from Moffat County High School in 1987. She moved to Steamboat to be part of the Horizons community. She worked at City Market in Steamboat since 1999. She won a gold medal in the Special Olympic World Winter Games in Austria in giant slalom. She was also a huge fan of the Sailors and the Broncos. Sue White died Aug. 4. Sue White’s Obituary
The Steamboat Sailors Boys soccer team won a conference game against Glenwood Springs last night, 2-1, on the road. Their next game is a home game at 11 a.m. this Saturday against Summit.
