The Colorado Water Congress Summer Conference wraps up Thursday. Water leaders from across the state are attending, at the Steamboat Grand. U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper spoke on Thursday.
Senator Hickenlooper also spoke with longtime Routt County rancher Jay Fetcher in the lobby at the Steamboat Grand.
Other speakers Wednesday included Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser who is in Craig Thursday at CNCC. There is a ribbon-cutting on the Cyber Range which is the cyber security program.
Weiser’s opponent in the November election is John Kellner who also spoke at the Colorado Water Congress. Kellner is the current District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District, which includes Douglas County. In speaking with him, he very is aware of the June death of Steamboat resident Lacey Lewis. She was hit by a car and killed on Parker Road in Douglas County. The person being charged is Jessica Stahl who turns 46 today. She is still in jail as she hasn’t made the $50,000 bond set in the case. Her next court appearance is Sept. 8.

Leaders from the Colorado Outdoor Recreation office also gathered in Steamboat Springs this week, to talk about projects related to economic development and recovering in the outdoor recreation sector. Robin Hall is the CEO OF Town Hall Outdoor Company.
Colorado’s House Representative Dylan Roberts also attended the presentation.

- The Soroco Rams are also at home Friday in Oak Creek, with a 7 p.m. game against Belleview Christian.
- The Hayden Tigers play at 1 p.m. Saturday. They’re away against Plateau Valley.
The Steamboat American Legion Post 44 still has some banners available that will be displayed down Lincoln Ave. around Veterans Day. Each banner for any military hero is $100.
