A “Safe 2 Tell” complaint to 911 resulted in two arrests at Steamboat Springs High School Tuesday. The complaint was about a male who posted a picture of himself with what looked to be an AR style rifle with a threatening message. Steamboat Police started investigating and identified the suspect as 18-year-old Zachery Durham. Police located Durham and 19-year-old Damion Rhodes in the school parking lot, where Steamboat Police say Rhodes appeared to be loading a magazine into what looked like a rifle. It was an Airsoft gun. Police also found other knives and swords in the car. Both men were arrested. Durham is not a student at the school but Rhodes is. And while this happened, the high school was under an active secure perimeter. All students and staff were in the building and all outside doors were closed and locked. Steamboat Springs Police Chief Sherry Burlingame says, “We take potential threats and threats of violence very seriously.”

A firefighter at the Oak Creek Fire Department has made it on the Colorado Firefighter Calendar for 2023. Nathan Carranza has been a firefighter in Oak Creek for about eight months.
“Kind of surreal to be honest. It was not something that I feel like was real going into it until I saw my image on a calendar.”
Carranza is also a dancer, and was on Season 12 of So You Think You Can Dance.
The calendars are $20 each. All of the money goes to the Burn Center at Children’s Hospital. Carranza will be setting up some public appearances and ways to buy the calendar online. But until then…
“People can also always stop by the Oak Creek Fire Department and they can receive a signed copy from me directly.” (Oak Creek Fire is at 23655 County Road 16 in Oak Creek.)
Carranza is on the month of June.
