The General Election is Nov. 8. Ballots are getting mailed Monday. Tammy Raschke is the Clerk and Recorder for Moffat County. This will be her last time running an election as she is retiring in January.
Raschke has worked for the Moffat County Clerk and Recorder’s office for 32 years, starting with motor vehicles. She has worked on three presidential elections which she says was especially difficult during COVID. She and her husband plan to move to a warmer climate. Stacy Morgan will be the next Moffat County Clerk and Recorder as she is running unopposed in November.
Walgreens corporate has moved up the closing date of the Walgreens in Craig. The last day for the store and the employees is now Nov. 10.
The City of Steamboat Springs has asked members of the community to fill out an online survey. They want to know how you feel about community issues. It’s online in English or in Spanish, through the city’s social media pages with links on our sites as well, through Oct. 19.
The new online edition is open until Wednesday, October 19 and can be accessed in English (https://polco.us/steamboatsprings2022) or Spanish (https://polco.us/steamboatsprings2022sp).
The City of Steamboat Springs is also looking to hire some Community Service Officers. It’s a job that supports local law enforcement with things like the city’s trails and parking problems, traffic and crowd control. CSOs respond to, investigate and prepare case reports for motor vehicle accidents and minor criminal offenses. CSOs collaborate with special event organizers and provide public safety services for planned events.

Routt County Commissioners have proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s to increase awareness and education of domestic violence in the community. The proclamation reads:
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER AS DOMSTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH IN ROUTT COUNTY
WHEREAS, many individuals – regardless of age, ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, circumstance, and/or race – face the pain and fear of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, a large number of domestic violence incidents go unreported by survivors who experience fear of repercussions, threats of future violence, denial, guilt, shame, and /or fear of a negative response from their community; and
WHEREAS, the impacts on victims who experience domestic violence include bodily injury; emotional trauma, fear and concern for safety; post-traumatic stress or other disorders; inability to attend work or school; the sudden need for housing, legal services, and other support; and, in some cases, permanent disability or death; and
WHEREAS, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we expose this recurring violation of the basic human right to be free from violence and abuse; and
WHEREAS, we pledge to ensure every victim of domestic violence knows they are not alone, pledge to foster a supportive community that seeks to effectively prevent and respond relationship violence, and pledge to contribute to the ongoing movement to end domestic violence altogether.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Routt County, Colorado that October 2022 is proclaimed as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Routt County.
Steamboat Springs Middle School presents Legally Blonde Junior. The school play is at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday nights, with a special 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. There are 44 cast members from the middle school and Sleeping Giant School. Pick up free tickets at the middle school office starting Thursday, Oct. 6.
It’s Homecoming Week in Hayden. The parade is today with the Bonfire at Dry Creek Park tonight. The football game is Friday and the dance on Saturday.
The Lions Club Playground at Little Toots Park is almost finished. The official unveiling and community celebration is at 3 p.m. this coming Tuesday, Oct. 18. The new playground will be known as the Lions Club Playground at Little Toots Park after the local Ski Towns Lions Club, which is celebrating its 100-year anniversary. The club has a long history of providing community support and infrastructure improvements at Little Toots Park and will continue their support with ongoing maintenance assistance, including organizing annual park clean-ups.
