A standoff in west Steamboat Springs Thursday has ended up with two people in custody. 25-year-old Taylor White has a driver’s license with a Lakewood address. 36-year-old Dory Myler was from Steamboat but has been living in Craig, according to Steamboat Police Chief Sherry Burlingame. It had to do with reports of thefts from vehicles and two stolen trucks out of Westminster. Then it moved to an RV where the Combined Emergency Response Team was deployed on a barricade situation. Both suspects are in jail on multiple charges.
In COVID News, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is reporting three new COVID deaths in Moffat County. Public Health says while they were just added, they happened some time ago and there are no other details. This would bring the total number of deaths due to COVID to 58 in Moffat County, since the beginning of the pandemic.
Rabbit Ears Pass is closed in both directions this morning because of a crashed commercial motor vehicle that has to be removed. The closure is from 6 a.m. until at least noon. Colorado State Patrol and Colorado Department of Transportation crews are on the scene. The alternate route is Highway 131 down to 134. Check updates at COTrip.org
Jennifer Holloway has been chosen as the Chamber CEO of the Year. Holloway is Executive Director of the Craig Chamber. She says it is an honor and a surprise.
“It just really reaffirms the work we’re doing in trying to build connections throughout the state for Northwest Colorado as we move into our transitioning and create a really great new opportunity for everyone in our businesses as well as our non-profits. I’m just really excited to represent the Craig Chamber in this way and that the rest of the state is recognizing all of the hard work we’re doing.”
Holloway was awarded the honor in Denver Thursday by the Colorado Chamber and the Association of Colorado Chambers.
The Stanley Cup spent the day in Steamboat Springs Thursday. It’s because of Curtis McElhinney, who lives in Steamboat now. He was goalie for the Stanley Cup winning Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021. He waited until now to get his turn for having the Stanley Cup for a day and he chose Steamboat.
The cup went to local schools and Howelsen Ice Arena and many, many happy pictures were taken with it.
The Haunted House at Colorado Mountain College is back for a 23rd year of frightening ghouls, goblins, and zombies. It’s from 6-10 p.m. tonight and Saturday, and on Halloween night. Tickets are $20 per person at the door. All of the money raised goes to the CMC Astronomy Club.
Big O Tires in Craig presents Trunk or Treat on Saturday afternoon. It starts at 2 p.m. in the parking lot at 1295 W. Victory Way.
It’s a Magical Night at Hogwarts in Meeker. The fun is for all ages, at the Meeker Fairgrounds from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. There are games and a maze, train rides and dinner. The cost is $20 per family or $5 at the door.
Halloween night on Monday as Trick or Treat Street in downtown Craig and Trunk or Treat at Victory Motors, and the Halloween Stroll through downtown Steamboat.

The Moffat County Bulldogs shut out Grand Valley in Parachute last night, 41-0. It’s off to the state playoffs.
The Steamboat Sailors play Berthoud at home Saturday. The game is at 2 p.m. at Gardner Field.
Soroco and Hayden have a big rivalry game at 7 p.m. tonight, in Hayden.
And in the CHSAA 4A State Soccer playoffs, the Sailors win the first round over Grand Junction, 3-2 in a double OT shootout Thursday night. Campbell McClaron scored the game winner.
