25-year-old Nick Simon of Steamboat Springs has died in a car accident in New Zealand. Simon was a 2016 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School. There is a Celebration of Life at Strings Pavilion from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. Video
Halloween was celebrated last night with happy trick-or-treaters throughout Northwest Colorado.
Treats for Troops starts today and runs through next Monday. That’s where you can drop off leftover and unopened Halloween Candy at the Boys & Girls Club in Steamboat. It’s a program in partnership with Wells Fargo Advisors. That candy will be sent to deployed service members and veterans.
Dia de los Muertos is being celebrated at Bud Werner Memorial Library. It’s the second annual Day of the Dead celebration in Steamboat. Community members are invited to visit the altar at the library and leave a token or picture of a loved one. It’s from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., today through Friday. The event is hosted by The Health Partnership, with help from Integrated Community, LatinX Alliance, and the library.
Steamboat Springs City Council meets tonight. Council will discuss the 2023 City Budget, the Mountain Area Master Plan and the 2A Trails Committee Funding Recommendations for 2022. About 60 wild horses are up for adoption at the Mesa County Fairgrounds in Grand Junction this Saturday. You can view the horses Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Pumpkins for Piggies is Wednesday. Don’t let your old pumpkins end up in a landfill. Drop them off at the rodeo grounds in Steamboat Springs. They’ll be used as animal feed and compost at Hayden Fresh Farm Eggs and the Mystic Hills Farmstead. Please remove any paint, candles, and wax. Drop off your old pumpkins from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at the Howelsen Hill Rodeo Grounds.
This Friday’s CHSAA State Playoff football game has been set for Moffat County. The 7-2 Bulldogs face The Classical Academy. The Titans are 8-1. The game is at 7 p.m. Friday night and it is away in Colorado Springs.
The Hayden Tigers play Simla, also away, at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Simla is northeast of Colorado Springs, just over a four and a half hour drive from Hayden.
