Steamboat Ski Resort has announced that Wednesday’s opening day will be the biggest opening day in nearly a decade.
“Super excited to open up. It’s going to be a great opening day.”
That’s Steamboat Resort president Rob Perlman. The Champagne Powder Bell rings at 8:30 a.m. to get the lifts going for the season. Six lifts will be running with 34 trails and 257 acres of terrain. Four Points and Burgess Creek will be open, along with the Lil’ Rodeo Terrain Park, mini pipe, and the Buckaroo and Wrangler magic carpets at the base area.
Then on Thursday, Storm Peak opens up which will bring the total amount of acreage to 324 acres.
But there’s more.
Perlman says those who come out for opening day will see the new additions Steamboat Square, including the ice rink.
“We’re going to debut Skeeter’s Ice Rink on opening day. Also, the Steamboat Stage. We’re going to do a little presentation to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. It’s a full day of festivities.”
The ice rink dedication in Steamboat Square is at 10:30 a.m. with a special performance from the Steamboat Figure Skating Club and free skate rentals for public skate all day. Buffalo Commons will take the stage at 2 p.m. for a free concert Wednesday afternoon.
Please keep an eye on Steamboat.com/the-mountain/ for up-to-date info on open trails and lifts. Opening Day festivities can be found at www.steamboat.com/things-to-do/events.
