STEAMBOAT HOCKEY BUS IS HIT ON HWY 40 NORTH OF KREMMLING
Seventeen Steamboat Sailor JV Hockey players are OK today, after a bus accident just before midnight Saturday night. It happened on their way home from hockey games on the Front Range, on Highway 40, just a few miles north of Kremmling. Here’s Sailor sophomore Frank Alexander.
“At first we thought we hit an elk, or like an animal or something. So we were all really confused. But we were all OK. It was for sure like we hit something. We were more worried about the person we hit at the time than our own selves because we were all completely fine. Once we found out that she was OK, we were all like, ‘Let’s just get home.’”

Colorado State Patrol says the driver of the other car was an 18-year-old female. No one was hurt. Both the bus and car had to be towed. The West Grand School District lent a school bus to the Steamboat team so that they could all get home that night, with their hockey gear. Pictures and more on the story are on our website.
The Yampa Valley Housing Authority has signed the final papers to purchase the Whitehaven Mobile Home Park, on behalf of the residents there. The purchase price was $3.125 million dollars. YVHA received anonymous donations and favorable loans to purchase the property.
