Jessica Ann Stahl is back in jail, on $60,000 cash or surety bond. She is the woman from Douglas County accused of a Vehicular Homicide DUI case that killed 25-year-old Lacey Lewis of Steamboat last summer. Stahl was in Douglas County Court Friday. The DA’s office told the judge that Stahl had missed appointments for probation and drug testing, that she had a history of drug addiction, and urine results at the time of the accident showed 11 drugs in her system. Stahl was ordered by Judge Patricia Herron to take a urinalysis right then. Stahl didn’t take the test so the judge set the new bond at $60,000 and put Stahl back in jail. Judge Herron said, “She needs to understand that this is an obligation that you have. It indicates you aren’t taking this seriously.”
Stahl will be back in court at 9 a.m. January 6 where she has to plead either guilty or not guilty. Charges against Stahl include Vehicular Homicide DUI, Assault 2 – Reckless Serious Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon, Vehicular Assault DUI, Child Abuse – Knowingly/Reckless – No Injury, Leaving Scene – Accident Involving Death, and Leaving Scene – Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury. Five are felonies and one is a misdemeanor.

Who are the people in the yellow neon vests at the light at Pine Grove Road and Central Park Drive? They are holding signs that say “Donation for Alex. He was diagnosed with cancer & needs surgery. God Bless you.” We asked the man who had a badge that said, in misspelled words, “Employment for Donation.”
The man says he’s Italian. He called someone on his phone who said she was Alex’s mother, and she lived in Denver, but Alex was in Istanbul with his father. And that’s why they were collecting money. They had trick-or-treat pumpkin heads full of cash on the corner at Central Park Plaza in Steamboat.
The picture of Alex on the poster matches another picture of a boy named Alex who had cancer, from Minnesota.
