The City Market in Craig is trying to reopen from that roof leak caused by heavy snow. The store closed on Tuesday. The corporate office says “Our teams are working diligently to repair the damage and we are optimistic that the store will reopen by the end of the week.” The spokesperson adds that the safety of associates and customers is their top priority which is why the store will stay closed while any work is being done. Craig City Market Manager Gina Mack asked us to pass along that she appreciates everyone’s patience with the closure of the store. Check to make sure it is open if you’re headed to the Craig City Market.
The Vaccine Bus is at the Stockbridge Transit Center in Steamboat Springs, today, Friday, and Saturday. That’s near the Community Center on the west side of town. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are free.

It’s a girl! The first baby of the year in Routt County is Briana Jose Gadea Moreno. She was born at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, weighing in at 8 pounds and 5 ounces. The proud parents are Lisbeth Del Carmen Moreno Borge and Ervin Jose Gadea Laguna of Steamboat Springs. She was delivered by certified nurse midwife Jennifer Allen of UCHealth Women’s Care Clinic in Steamboat Springs. In 2022, 318 babies were delivered at UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center.
Hayden Police Chief Greg Tuliszewski has officially retired, after 10 years as the Police Chief in Hayden, and 34 years in law enforcement.
“It’s been a great experience with the town of Hayden. The people have been welcoming. I’ve had the most wonderful team and support from my officers and staff and the town. And it’s a success!”
A gathering was held for the chief Wednesday night. Sean Hockaday will take over as the interim chief until a permanent replacement can be found.
The World Pro Ski Tour returns to the slopes of Howelsen Hill this week. These are the fastest men and women dual ski racers with Olympians, World Champions, NCAA All-Americans and more. The pro qualifiers start at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6. There are junior races with the pros that evening, brought to you by Alpine Bank. The Moose Barrows Trophy Races for men and women are on Saturday, July 7. Stop by Howelsen Hill to watch.
High School sports starts up again this week. The Steamboat Sailors Hockey team is 4-1 overall and undefeated in the 4A Mountain division. Hudson Hare is one of 15 seniors for the Sailors. He says growing up together helps.
“We have a lot of chemistry going on with that. We all have grown up together for 17 years.”
Steamboat hosts 1-6 Mullen Friday night. The game is at Howelsen Ice Arena. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m.
The Sailor Basketball teams have home games Friday against Rifle. The girls are at 5:30 p.m. and the boys are at 7 p.m. Listen on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM.
The Moffat County Bulldog basketball teams are away at Middle Park Friday. Kody May will have the play-by-play.
The wrestling teams are competing in Vernal. Ashley Seely is the head coach for the Moffat County Girls Wrestling Team.
“Right now we have approximately 20 girls out for the season. We only have one senior and that’s Makaela Simpson. We’re a pretty young team. The majority of the team is freshmen and sophomores. We only have two juniors. The future of the team looks bright as far as being able to build up and bring up those younger girls to the next school year.”
The Hayden Center is hosting an Adult Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament. It starts at 11 a.m. Saturday. The link to register is on the Community Calendar on our website.
