Alpine Bank World Pro Ski Tour Junior Challenge Returns to Howelsen

DECEMBER 05, 2022 – Denver, CO – The World Pro Ski Tour (WPST), will host the fifth annual junior race opportunity alongside title sponsor, Alpine Bank, at the City of Steamboat Springs’ Howelsen Hill on January 6, 2023. The race will feature male and female WPST pro racers mentoring Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes, who will compete in a unique, mixed age group format.

“The Alpine Bank Junior Challenge is a great event to support,” says Betsy Wood, Director of Community Outreach at Alpine Bank. “The race energy is contagious and the effort the kids put in is incredible to watch. As a parent of 7 and 9 year old SSWSC athletes this is one event they love to watch, looking forward to the day they will be able to compete.  I encourage everyone that has a child that loves skiing to come out on Friday evening. Bring your cowbells, if you don’t have one, don’t worry, Alpine Bank will have extra!”

The WPST brings the world’s fastest professional dual ski racers together on snow. As a part of an ongoing effort to engage youth athletes in the dual format, the WPST has again joined forces with Alpine Bank to give young athletes an experience of a lifetime; the opportunity to be coached along by Olympians, World Champions, NCAA All-Americans and more.

“The WPST Junior Challenge is always a highlight of our time at the City of Steamboat’s Howelsen Hill,” says Jon Franklin, CEO of the WPST. “Thanks to Alpine Bank, we bring up-and-coming youth athletes together with our male and female pro racers in an incredible learning opportunity.”

World Pro Ski Tour race action at Howelsen begins at 10:00 am on January 6th, and the Junior Challenge will kick off after the men’s and women’s pro races at 4:00pm with a Pro-Junior pizza party to follow the racing.
