An accident in North Routt County has taken the life of a 30-year-old woman from Boulder.
It happened on Sunday, Jan. 15, on County Road 129. There was a head-on collision on a sharp curve between Mile Marker 8 and 9.
Colorado State Patrol says the driver of a Ford Escape, heading northbound, lost control on a snow-packed road and slid into oncoming traffic. The driver’s name is Nathaniel Robert Mulanax from Denver.
His passenger was 30-year-old Julia H. Woods who died last Thursday, after being on life support. She had been transported to UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital Trauma Center in Aurora.
Colorado State Patrol says the two in the other vehicle. which was a Ford F-150, declined medical treatment at the scene. One person was from Glenwood Springs and the other from Hahns Peak.
Charges against Mulanax were filed Tuesday, Jan. 24, by District Attorney Matt Karzen in the 14th Judicial District. Those five charges are:

UPDATE: Bond was set at $10,000. Bond was posted for Mulanax by a professional surety bond company on Jan. 16. His next court date is a virtual Appearance on Bond at 8:30 a.m. March 7.

Matt Karzen, District Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial District, of the State of Colorado, in the name and by the authority of the People of the State of Colorado, informs the court of the following offenses committed, or triable, in the County of Routt:
COUNT 1-VEHICULAR HOMICIDE (F4)
On or about January 15, 2023, Nathaniel Robert Mulanax unlawfully and feloniously operated or drove a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired by alcohol, one or more drugs, or a combination of both alcohol and one or more drugs, and the conduct was the proximate cause of the death of Julia H Woods; in violation of section 18-3-106(1)(b)(I.5), C.R.S.
COUNT 2-CARELESS DRIVING (T1)
On or about January 15, 2023, Nathaniel Robert Mulanax unlawfully drove a motor vehicle or low-power scooter in a careless and imprudent manner, without due regard for the width, grade, curves, corners, traffic, and use of the streets or highways and all other attendant circumstances Further, the defendant’s actions were the proximate cause of death to Julia H. Woods; in violation of section 42-4-1402(1),(2)(c), C.R.S.
COUNT 3-COMPULSORY INSURANCE (T1)
On or about January 15, 2023, Nathaniel Robert Mulanax unlawfully operated a motor vehicle or low-power scooter on a public highway without a complying policy or certificate of self-insurance in full force and effect as required by law; in violation of section 42-4-1409(2), C.R.S.
COUNT 4-ILLEGAL POSSESSION OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IN MOTOR VEHICLE (TIA)
On or about January 15, 2023, Nathaniel Robert Mulanax, while in the passenger area of a motor vehicle on a public highway or in the right of way of a public highway, unlawfully and knowingly drank an alcoholic beverage or had an open alcoholic beverage container in his possession; in violation of section 42-4-1305, C.R.S.
COUNT 5-ILLEGAL POSSESSION OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IN MOTOR VEHICLE (TIA)
