An accident in North Routt County has taken the life of a 30-year-old woman from Boulder. It happened back on Sunday, Jan. 15, on County Road 129. There was a head-on collision on a sharp curve between Mile Marker 8 and 9. Colorado State Patrol says the driver of a Ford Escape lost control on a snowpacked road and slid into oncoming traffic. His name is Nathaniel Mulanax from Denver. His passenger was 30-year-old Julia Woods who died last Thursday, after being on life support. The two in the other car, (one from Glenwood Springs and one from Hahns Peak), declined medical treatment at the scene. Charges against Mulanax were filed Tuesday by the District Attorney’s office in Routt County. They include vehicular homicide, careless driving, lack of insurance, and two counts of illegal possession or consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
The 23rd Annual Airline Partners Summit in Steamboat wraps up today. About 170 people from the airline and travel industry are in Steamboat Springs. Rob Perlman and Katie Brown with Steamboat Resort spoke Tuesday morning, as did other airline industry reps. One person who attended was recently elected Routt County Commissioner Sonja Macys who has also worked at Yampa Valley Regional Airport as a ground handler since 2016.
“Yampa Valley Regional Airport is one of the most significant assets that Routt County has. So understanding trends in aviation, understanding how aviation partners are aligning with our goals of sustainability and climate action is really important as we grow our airport and follow along those consistent lines of sustainable growth.”
The local airport in Hayden has six airline carriers serving 16 non-stop cities in the United States. Those airlines are Alaska Airlines, Jet Blue, American, Delta, Southwest, and United.

Changes that are being considered:

- Averaging group applicant preference points
- Updating the high-demand hunt code split from 80% to residents and 20% to nonresidents to 90% for residents and 10% for nonresidents
- An across-the-board license allocation of 75% to residents and 25% to nonresidents
