The Brown Ranch Annexation Committee will hold meetings every two weeks starting this Wednesday, Feb. 1. They’re from 9 a.m. to noon in the Carver Conference room at Centennial Hall on 10th Street. The meetings are every two weeks through June 21. Public comment will be around 11:30 a.m. or you can email your comments to EngageSteamboat.net/annex. The meetings are also on Zoom.

Creating the Brown Ranch community is proceeding to the next step. After an extensive comment engagement process and the release of a Community Development Plan, the City of Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley Housing Authority are working together on an Annexation agreement, facilitated by former City Council member, Jason Lacy.
The City sent the schedule out which we wanted to share with you and encourage you to come, comment, listen and learn at the meetings. See below.
Brown Ranch Annexation Committee Starts Negotiation Path
Annexation Meetings Scheduled Every Two Weeks Starting February 1, 2023
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-January 26, 2023-The Brown Ranch Annexation Committee (BRAC) has started charting the course in negotiating an agreement between the city and Yampa Valley Housing Authority (YVHA) to annex 420-acres of the Brown Ranch into the City of Steamboat Springs.
“Our initial meeting laid the groundwork for the group as well as the expectations throughout the process,” said BRAC Facilitator Jason Lacy. “During the twenty- week timeline, we’re interested in public participation and comment, ensuring easy access to information and transparency.”
BRAC meetings will run every two weeks on Wednesday from 9am to 12pm starting February 1, 2023 (see below). Public comment will be accepted at each meeting at 11:30am or the end of earlier agenda items, whichever comes first. Comments should be relevant to the meeting topic. In addition, public comments can be made through EngageSteamboat.net/annex.

Committee sessions will take place in the Carver Conference Room in Centennial Hall, 124 10th Street.
All BRAC meetings will be live streamed via Zoom and carried on the city website and YouTube channel. Additional information can be found at steamboatsprings.net/BRAC.
The Brown Ranch Annexation Committee is an open public body that follows similar meeting requirements to city boards & commissions like City Council or Planning Commission. The committee is charged with negotiating the terms of a comprehensive agreement governing the proposed annexation.
The BRAC consists of City Councilors Robin Crossan and Joella West, YVHA Board of Directors Leah Wood and Kathi Mayer, City Manager Gary Suiter, and YVHA Executive Director Jason Peasley. Former City Council President and local attorney Jason Lacy will serve as the third-party independent facilitator for the group.
Meeting synopsis’s, agendas, video recordings and other pertinent material will be accessible online through the city website, YVHA website and EngageSteamboat.net/Annex. Once the draft agreement is finalized by the BRAC, City Council will review, and additional public comment will be available.
