Steamboat Springs School District has confirmed two interim principals as permanent. Joe Laliberte is the principal of Sleeping Giant School, after being the interim principal there since August, and the assistant principal at the middle school before that. Erin Haubert is now the permanent principal at Strawberry Park Elementary. She was moved into the interim principal there in August after Dr. Celine Wicks moved up from the principal there to the superintendent of the district.
Craig City Council meets with Moffat County Commissioners tonight in a combined meeting. That’s from 4-6 p.m. Then the regular meeting for Craig City Council starts at 6:30 p.m. There is a presentation on the flooding problems on Birch Street. Council will also hear the monthly Craig Police report.
In news from the Steamboat Springs Post Office…
- The back part of the parking lot, where the mail trucks park to get the mail to deliver, has now been plowed by Routt Sanitation. The postal vehicles were having to park on Fish Creek Falls Road but now it’s plowed, and part of the plower’s contract is to keep it clear. Routt Sanitation asks that postal patrons please use the front parking lot so they can finish up the back area where the postal vehicles park to fill up with mail to head out on deliveries.
- The postal service sent in a custodian from Alamosa who is here for two weeks. He cleaned and polished all of the floors in the Steamboat Springs Post Office on Sunday, since there hasn’t been a custodian since the fall. The postal service is taking bids from outside contractors to do the custodial work. Please reach out to Fernando, the postmaster, if you are interested. Fernando.Castro@usps.gov
- The corporate office says their legal team is looking into whether making people pay for PO Boxes when they have no other way to get their mail is legal. That won’t happen quickly but they tell me they are working on it.
- The post office is hiring. Keep an eye on their website because the listings change frequently. Apply here https://about.usps.com/careers/welcome.htm
- And as a reminder, be respectful and nice to the local postal clerks.
The Moffat County Bulldogs host the Steamboat Sailors tonight in basketball. The girls take to the court at 5:30 p.m. and the boys are right after that, around 7 p.m.
