Rates go up March 1 for members of Yampa Valley Electric Association. There is a notice in your most recent bill. This is for YVEA members in Routt and Moffat counties, and also south central Wyoming.
Megan Moore Kemp is the Member Relations Manager for YVEA.
“Our board and staff take rate changes very seriously. We know our members are facing the same challenges of cost escalation that we are at the co-op. The most significant being the cost of wholesale energy prices. Xcel Energy, our wholesale energy provider, raised our rates by 14% for 2023. In order to not pass on this entire increase to our members, we cut our budget significantly resulting in an 8% across the board rate increase in March. Not all rate classes will be impacted. We encourage our members to visit our website, YVEA.com, for more information.”
The notice from YVEA says, “We don’t raise rates to generate profits but to cover the cost of doing business. This rate increase is necessary due to power supply costs, maintaining and investing in our system, and the rising costs of doing business.”
